A man who was murdered and whose body was found in a laneway in north Co Dublin has been formally identified by gardaí.
Originally from Poland, Michal Kurek (32) had lived in Ireland for a number of years.
Gardaí investigating the murder have renewed their appeal for information. They have asked any friends and associates of Mr Kurek to contact the incident room at Balbriggan Garda station on (01) 802 0510, the Garda Confidential Lone 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
Mr Kurek’s body was discovered on Friday at about 10.40am in a laneway off the Oldtown Road, the R129, about 1km outside Ballyboughal, near Naul.
Detectives believe he was murdered elsewhere and his body was then left by a ditch on the country road. He had been stabbed a number of times.
Mr Kurek’s death is not believed to be gang related.
Superintendent Noel Carolan of Balbriggan Garda station has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
“Anyone here over the last day or two who saw any suspicious movements or vehicles or people in the area,” he said.
He also asked locals to report any events in the area which could be connected to the death such as an argument or fight.
