Source: Tourism Ireland TOURISM IRELAND IN China running a promotional campaign for Game of Thrones aimed at 14 million people to try to entice them to Irish shores.Teaming up with HBO Asia, Tourism Ireland is running the promotion until the end of August, “reminding Chinese fans of the TV show that Northern Ireland is one of the main filming locations for Game of Thrones”.The promotion – which an estimated 14 million people will see – is running on five popular online platforms in China, including social networks, a movie news and reviews website and HBO and Tourism Ireland’s own social media accounts.It will feature a competition, with a chance for five people to win a trip for two to Northern Ireland, which will include a Game of Thrones tour.The fictional locations of The Haunted Forest, the Dothraki Sea, Winterfell and The Kingsroad are all filmed north of the border.Large Game of Thrones displays have been set up in shopping centres and next week, Chinese bloggers and influencers have been invited to a video streaming event of Game of Thrones in a centre in Shanghai.
