Andrew Guerrine, 37, was stabbed to death in May of 2015.
His body was discovered at Steelstown lane in Co Dublin, off the main Dublin to Limerick road - the same location where a newborn baby named 'Maria' had also been found abandoned three weeks earlier.
The father-of-one had a drug problem and was known to gardaí.
This morning, a 40-year-old man was arrested and brought before Tallaght District Court.
Stephen Tynan, with an address at Knockmore Park in Tallaght, was charged with the murder of Mr Guerrine at a place unknown between Knockmore and the Killinarden Estate on 23 May, 2015.
He was also charged with other separate unrelated offences.
There was no application for bail, as bail on a murder charge can only be granted by the High Court.
Mr Tynan was remanded in custody to appear again at Dublin District Court next Thursday.
