It is now over a year since the European Union ordered that the tax be collected after its ruling that the iPhone maker received unfair tax incentives from Ireland.
"When it will move in and how it will move in, we have yet to conclude with Apple but I expect that process to begin when we have completed the setting up of the escrow account," Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe said today.
Both the Government and Apple are appealing the record EU order.
The Minister said that two tendering processes are underway relating to the management and investment strategy of the escrow account.
He said expects the tender process to be complete by the end of  January.
Mr Donohoe also said he would deal with the potential allocation of cost and benefits from the Apple escrow account  - interest - when the tendering process is complete.

He said the Government would be contending in court that it had at all points impartially implemented Irish tax law.
